Slow wave activity and executive dysfunction in children with sleep disordered breathing

Sleep and Breathing Sep 22, 2017

Christiansz JA, et al. - This study assessed slow wave activity (SWA) as a potential mechanism linking sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) with executive dysfunction in children. Findings reported an association of SWA, a subtle measure of sleep disruption and sleep regulation, with deficits in problem-solving and sustained attention in children with SDB. Furthermore, this exploration offers a promising alternative as recent mechanistic theories do not account for deficits observed in children with mild forms of SDB.
