Sleep-related leg movements in patients with transient ischemic attack and controls
European Neurology Mar 17, 2018
Schipper MH, et al. - During this study, experts sought to examine subjects with a transient ischemic attack (TIA) for periodic leg movements during sleep (PLMS) and respiratory-related leg movements (RRLM), compared to a control group without TIA. Higher periodic leg movement index (PLMI) was not found among TIA patients vs controls. In the presence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), no rise was noted in RRLMs compared to patients without TIA. PLMS was possibly related to cardiovascular diseases in selective patients as PLMS was clinically more often observed in the TIA group without OSAS.
