Sleep profile in anorexia and bulimia nervosa female patients

Abdou TA, et al. - Using subjective and objective assessment tools, the researchers attempted to study the sleep pattern in anorexia and bulimia female patients. Using structured sleep disorder questionnaire and full night polysomnography, a cross sectional study of sleep patterns was conducted on twenty-three female patients with bulimia and anorexia. All cases were obtained from the Institute of Psychiatry, Ain Shams University over 18 months interval. They reported that sleep was affected in both bulimia and anorexia nervosa patients equally confirming that both sleep and eating disorders were highly correlated. Results of this study suggested that sleep could be a clinical marker in eating disorders.
