Sleep disturbance in adult dermatological patients: A cross-sectional study on prevalence, burden and associated factors
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Apr 18, 2021
Spindler M, Przybyłowicz K, Hawro M, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for examining the prevalence, burden and factors associated with sleep disturbance in dermatological patients. They selected 800 patients and recorded pruritus features, sociodemographic and clinical parameters. Validated questionnaires were used to evaluate sleep disturbance, psychological distress, health-related quality of life (HR-QoL), and work productivity. Two-thirds of patients met the criteria for poor sleep, which was linked to psychological distress, decreased HR-QoL, and decreased work productivity. Sleep disturbance is common in dermatological patients and is a significant burden.
