Sleep disordered breathing in bronchopulmonary dysplasia
Pediatric Pulmonology Oct 27, 2017
Ortiz LE, et al. - The connection between the demographic factors with the development of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) was comprehensively contemplated in this study. An elevation was revealed in respiratory disturbance index (RDI), among a selected bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) population compared to norms for non-preterm children. It was noted that BPD severity, smoke exposure, and race could augment the severity of SDB. AN improvement was seen in RDI with age but was still elevated by age 4. This data indicated that this population was at risk for the sequelae of SDB.
