Sleep architecture and the risk of incident dementia in the community

Pase MP, et al. – The relationships between sleep architecture and the prospective risk of incident dementia were examined in the community–based Framingham Heart Study (FHS). The findings implicated REM sleep mechanisms as predictors of clinical dementia despite the contemporary interest in slow–wave sleep and dementia pathology.
