Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Mar 25, 2018
Qarqaz FA, et al. - Herein the improvement of pigmentation of acne scarring in subjects with dark skin using microneedling was evaluated by the authors. They also evaluated the post acne scarring improvement and the safety of microneedling in pigmented skin. For both acne scars and associated pigmentation in patients with dark skin color, microneedling was noted to be an effective treatment. Apart from transient redness, mild dryness, and small hematomas, this treatment appeared to be safe. Nonetheless, in some patients in order to achieve more improvement in pigmentation, additional treatments could be required.
