Skeletal stability following bioresorbable versus titanium fixation in orthognathic surgery: A systematic review and meta-analysis
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery | Oct 27, 2017
Luo M, et al. - The clinicians performed this systematic review and meta-analysis to examine evidence from the international literature from studies comparing skeletal stability between bioresorbable and titanium fixation in orthognathic surgery. When used in the maxillary setback and mandibular clockwise rotation, bioresorbable fixation was comparable to titanium fixation, with regard to skeletal stability. However, titanium fixation could be preferable in the mandibular setback. Additional high-quality investigations were required to draw more definitive conclusions.
