Single-site robotic cholecystectomy vs multi-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A systematic review and mata-analysis
The American Journal of Surgery May 31, 2018
Sun N, et al. - The outcomes of single-site robotic cholecystectomy (SSRC) compared to multi-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy (MLC) were investigated. The safety and feasibility of SSRC were determined in addition. From 2011 to 2017, the electronic databases PubMed, MEDLINE, The Cochrane Library, and EMBASE were searched to identify relevant studies. The data showed SSRC and MLC as equivalent regarding operative time, bleeding, postoperative complications, bile leakage, wound infection, conversion rate, and hospital stay. However, compared to the MLC group, the SSRC group indicated a higher risk of an incisional hernia, higher incidence of incisional hernia rate, and significantly higher total costs. Hence, researchers recommend practicing caution while balancing advantage, disadvantage and risk of SSRC.
