Single shot ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral block for opioid-free radical mastectomy: A prospective observational study
Journal of Pain Research Sep 16, 2019
Santonastaso DP, de Chiara A, Russo E, et al. - Researchers investigated the efficacy of thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) associated with general anesthesia (GA), or as a sole anesthesiological technique for postoperative pain control and for the reduction of intra and postoperative opioids consumption among 51 patients with neoplastic breast disease who were elected as candidates for radical mastectomy. Thirty-seven patients received TPVB associated with GA while 14 patients received it solely. No patients required intra and postoperative use of opioids and had a significant decrease in local anesthetic dosages compared with those reported in the existing literature.
