Single position circumferential fusion improves operative efficiency, reduces complications and length of stay compared with traditional circumferential fusion

The Spine Journal Dec 16, 2020

Buckland AJ, Ashayeri K, Leon C, et al. - A multicenter retrospective cohort study was performed to evaluate the perioperative safety and efficacy of single position anterior-posterior (AP) lumbar fusion surgery (SPLS). Researchers enrolled a total of 390 individuals undergoing AP surgery, of which 237 had undergone SPLS and 153 were in the Flip group. This study’s findings revealed that SPLS improves operative efficiency in addition to decreasing blood loss, length of stay, and ileus in this large cohort study while maintaining safety.
