Simultaneous non-contrast angiography and intraplaque haemorrhage (SNAP) imaging for cervical artery dissections
Clinical Radiology Aug 15, 2019
Huang RJ, et al. - Fifty-three individuals with suspected cervical artery dissections (CeAD) underwent the simultaneous non-contrast angiography and intraplaque hemorrhage (SNAP) sequence and conventional MRI sequences and cervical vascular ultrasound (CVUS) in this study, so that researchers assess the feasibility of high-resolution MRI with a SNAP sequence in determining CeAD. The SNAP sequence was discovered to give good performance in the diagnosis of CeAD, good agreement was determined between SNAP and conventional sequences, and excellent agreement was noted between SNAP and CVUS. During the review, no notable variation between absolute signal or signal index of the intramural hematoma (IMH) of the vessel wall images within the SNAP and T1-weighted black-blood imaging (T1W-BB) sequences could be found. In comparison with T1W-BB, T2W-BB, proton-density-weighted volume isotropic turbo-spin-echo acquisition imaging sequences, the SNAP sequence had greater SNR of the IMH. Hence, the SNAP sequence held the ability to be chosen for the screening of individuals with a high suspicion of CeAD and for the follow-up of IMH following treatment.
