Significance of serum human epididymis protein 4 and cancer antigen 125 in distinguishing type I and type II epithelial ovarian cancers
International Journal of Gynecological Cancer Jul 12, 2018
Yanaranop M, et al. - Researchers ascertained the efficacy of human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) and cancer antigen 125 (CA125), and risk of ovarian malignancy algorithm (ROMA) in detecting type I and type II epithelial ovarian cancers (EOCs) via a cross-sectional diagnostic study of 499 Thai women older than 18 years with clinically diagnosed pelvic masses and who had elective surgery between July 2012 and July 2014. Among these women, ROMA showed good performance in distinguishing noncancer lesions and EOCs, however the combined HE4 and CA125 test demonstrated superior efficacy in predicting EOC types.
