Significance of pancreatic calcification on preoperative computed tomography of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology May 25, 2019
Tsujimae M, et al. - In this investigation involving 157 patients who had resection for intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) between April 2001 and October 2016, researchers studied the connection between pancreatic calcification and invasive IPMN. In 17.2% of the resected IPMN, preoperative computed tomography (CT) revealed pancreatic calcification. In the univariate analyses, the pancreatic calcification was significantly associated with jaundice, high serum carbohydrate antigen 19-9 levels, and invasive IPMC. Invasive IPMC is associated with pancreatic calcification on CT. Pancreatic calcification could be an invasive IPMC predictor.
