Significance of content of the reticulocyte hemoglobin in the management of renal anemia
Blood Purification Apr 08, 2019
Ogawa C, et al. - Researchers assessed the associations among reticulocyte hemoglobin content (CHr), serum ferritin (s-ft), transferrin saturation (TSAT), and hepcidin-25 (Hep-25), to determine the optimal iron level in hemodialysis patients. Any factors that measure direct hemoglobin (Hb) of reticulocytes has no impact on CHr and CHr deemed as a reliable marker. Hep-25 regulates the supply of iron for Hb synthesis. The main use of s-ft and TSAT is to indicate internal iron status. The clinical significance of CHr and the potential use of CHr for the diagnosis of iron deficiency has been reported.
