Should patients with complex febrile seizure be admitted for further management?
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Jan 05, 2018
Olson H, et al. - Children with first complex febrile seizure (CFS) were retrospectively reviewed to assess the risk of seizure recurrence during admission and to determine whether early EEG affects acute management. As per findings, during admission, these children were at low risk for seizure recurrence. Multiple seizures at presentation seemed correlated with risk of early recurrence and might justify an admission. EEG seemed to have limited effect on acute management and should not be an indication for admission.
