Short-term safety, function, and quality of life in patients treated with univers revers prosthesis: A multicenter 2-year follow-up case series
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery May 24, 2020
Schwyzer HK, Marzel A, Wirth B, et al. - This study was sought to characterize the rate of local complications during the first 2 years after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) with the Univers Revers prosthesis and present the alterations in radiologic outcomes, as well as function, pain, satisfaction, and quality of life. A multicenter, prospective case series was designed to include rotator cuff tear arthropathy patients who had undergone RTSA with the Univers Revers. Using mixed-model linear regression, changes in range of motion, shoulder function (Constant score, Shoulder Pain and Disability Index, Subjective Shoulder Value), and quality of life (EQ-5D-5L [European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions 5 Level] and EQ-VAS [EuroQol Visual Analog Scale]) were analyzed. A total of 187 patients were included in the study. This study recorded a low complication rate with a consistent clinically relevant and statistically significant improvement across most clinical and patient-reported outcomes for the Univers Revers. Long-term safety needs future evaluation.
