Short-term outcomes of double pyloromyotomy vs single pyloromyotomy at peroral endoscopic pyloromyotomy in treatment of gastroparesis (with video)
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Jan 24, 2020
Abdelfatah MM, Li B, Kapil N, et al. - This retrospective case-controlled study was undertaken to determine if double pyloromyotomy at gastric peroral endoscopic pyloromyotomy (GPOEM) was superior to single pyloromyotomy. Participants in the study were patients (n = 90; the mean age was 47 ± 14 years old) who had GPOEM for refractory gastroparesis at the tertiary care institution between June 2015 and March 2018. No significant differences were observed among procedure time, postoperative pain or length of hospital stay between the two groups. No difference was noted in adverse events in the two pyloromyotomy groups. The authors concluded that double pyloromyotomy during GPOEM is a safe and feasible technique. In patients undergoing double pyloromyotomy vs single pyloromyotomy, clinical success was higher.
