Short-term morbidity and readmissions increases with skilled nursing facility discharge following total joint arthroplasty in a Medicare and skilled nursing facility eligible patient cohort

Journal of Arthroplasty Jan 25, 2018

Owens J, et al. - In patients eligible for Medicare and skilled nursing facility (SNF) discharge, short-term complication and readmission rates for SNF vs home discharge following total joint arthroplasty (TJA) were investigated. In this patient population, 30-day complication following TJA was most strongly predicted by SNF discharge, which was also identified to be an independent predictor of readmission following TJA.
