Montravers P, et al. - Herein, researchers compared the efficacy as well as safety of 8-day vs 15-day antibiotic therapy in critically ill patients with postoperative intra-abdominal infections (PIAI). Reduced antibiotic exposure was noted in critically ill intensive care unit patients who received short-course antibiotic therapy for PIAI. Furthermore, the continuation of treatment until day 15 was not related to any clinical benefit.
