Short-and long-term outcomes of sustained low efficiency dialysis vs continuous renal replacement therapy in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury
Journal of Critical Care Dec 09, 2020
Harvey AK, Burns KEA, McArthur E, et al. - Researchers investigated short- and long-term outcomes of sustained low efficiency dialysis (SLED) vs continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury (AKI), by performing this retrospective cohort analysis. They assessed 90-day all-cause death as the primary outcome. Mortality at one year, and dialysis dependence at 90 days and one year were evaluated as secondary outcomes. This analysis involved 284 patients, of those, 95 received SLED and 189 received CRRT. Findings demonstrated no difference in mortality at 90 days and one year between patients initiating SLED vs CRRT in this study population of critically ill patients with AKI.
