Slominski B, et al. - The proposition explored herein was that serum uric acid (UA) would associate with the prevalence of diabetic nephropathy in youth with type 1 diabetes (T1D), and that this correlation would vary by sex. A link was brought to light between serum UA with nephropathy prevalence, albeit only in boys with T1D. It could also serve as a significant risk factor for speculating diabetes-related cardiorenal complications in these patients.
