Sex differences in repair rates and outcomes of patients with ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm
British Journal of Surgery Aug 15, 2019
Zommorodi S, et al. - Sex differences in the ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA) repair rates and outcomes were addressed using data from the Swedish National Patient Registry and the Cause of Death Registry for the interval 2001–2015. In addition, time trends over a 15-year interval were described. Researchers identified nearly 10,724 patients with rAAA for inclusion. The analysis revealed that surgery was performed on fewer women with rAAA and that women had higher 30-day mortality relative to men. An overall decrease in rAAA incidence was noted, particularly in men.
