Brodie MM, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the severity of gastrointestinal bleeding in patients treated with direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs). Previous studies reported a higher frequency of gastrointestinal bleeding in patients treated with DOACs compared to warfarin. However, the yielded data from this study revealed the possibility of gastrointestinal bleeding in patients taking DOACs being less severe. SUch variations were present despite considerably greater concomitant aspirin use in the DOAC group compared to warfarin users.
