Melhem NM, et al. - To compute a risk score for suicide attempts and for the ability to predict suicide attempt via a longitudinal study of 663 offspring of parents with mood disorders, the observers sought to examine the trajectories of clinical predictors of suicide attempt (specifically, depression symptoms, hopelessness, impulsivity, aggression, impulsive aggression, and irritability). Younger age, lifetime history of the unipolar disorder, lifetime history of bipolar disorder, history of childhood abuse, and proband actual attempt were the few already assessed during routine psychiatric evaluation predictors by clinicians.
