Severity and area score for hidradenitis (SASH): A novel outcome measurement for hidradenitis suppurativa
British Journal of Dermatology Jun 29, 2019
Kirby JS, et al. - In a clinical trial setting, researchers developed and evaluated the reliability and validity of a novel outcome instrument for evaluating hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) [chronic, inflammatory skin disease with a large impact on health-related quality of life on patients] surface area. Participants were hired from academic medical centers in the mid-Atlantic, including clinicians or participants. Data reported that the intraclass correlation coefficient for inter-rater reliability was 0.60 and for intra-rater reliability was 0.98. Scores all showed concurrent validity with statistically significant correlations with extant scoring methods. According to findings, the novel scale is a reliable and valid instrument for HS outcome and can capture a wide range of patients by evaluating body surface area.
