Serum vaspin levels and carotid intima media thickness in pre dialysis patients
European Journal of Clinical Investigation Jul 01, 2018
Akyol A, et al. - This is the first report assessing serum vaspin levels in pre-dialysis subjects and their connections with glomerular filtration rate and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) levels. They involved 25 pre-dialysis patients (14 female and 11 male) and 22 healthy controls (8 female and 14 male) in this analysis. They measured CIMT through B-mode ultrasonography. It was noted that, compared to the control subjects, serum vaspin levels were reduced and CIMT levels were significantly higher in pre-dialysis subjects. Serum vaspin levels were found to be significantly associated with glomerular filtration rate and CIMT in these patients.
