Serum uric acid and risk of cardiovascular mortality: A systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of cohort studies of over a million participants
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Oct 21, 2019
Rahimi-Sakak F, et al. - Researchers summarized data on the link between serum uric acid (SUA) levels and cardiovascular mortality, via this meta-analysis. They identified all relevant studies published until April 2018 in MEDLINE/PubMed and Scopus databases. They used DerSimonianand Laird random-effects models in order to integrate hazard ratios with 95% confidence intervals. This analysis included 32 studies with 44 arms and overall 1,134,073 participants. Findings revealed a positive dose-response link between SUA and cardiovascular disease mortality risk. A stronger link was seen in women vs men.
