Serum triglycerides and mortality risk across stages of chronic kidney disease in 2 million US veterans
Journal of Clinical Lipidology Sep 07, 2019
Soohoo M, et al. - Using Cox proportional hazard models, researchers investigated a large cohort of US veterans (n = 2,086,904) for the link between triglycerides (TGs) and mortality across chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages. Findings revealed a higher risk of mortality across all stages in correlation with low levels of TGs < 80 mg/dL, whereas only a higher risk of all-cause mortality was observed in non-CKD and CKD stages 3A, 3B, and 4 in correlation with TG levels ≥ 240 mg/dL. Across more advanced stages of CKD, incremental reduction of the links of elevated TGs with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality was evident in this study.
