Serum total cholesterol and risk of cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular mortality in old age: A population-based study
BMC Geriatrics Jan 07, 2018
Liang Y, et al. - The clinicians designed this population-based study to evaluate the associations of total cholesterol with cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular mortality in old age. Furthermore, they aimed to investigate whether their associations varied by use of cholesterol-lowering medications. Higher levels of total cholesterol were correlated with lower risk of all-cause mortality, especially non-cardiovascular mortality, among older people. The association was evident mainly among individuals who were not treated with cholesterol-lowering medications.
