Serum resolvin E1 levels and its relationship with thyroid autoimmunity in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis: A preliminary study
BMC Endocrine Disorders Apr 17, 2021
Song J, Sun R, Zhang Y, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to detect serum resolvin E1 (RVE1) levels in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT), which is also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, patients and healthy controls (HCs) and to assess the association of RVE1 with thyroid autoimmunity. In total, 57 participants were selected, including 30 untreated HT patients and 27 age- and sex‐matched HCs. RVE1 serum levels in HT patients (24.09, 15.76–34.38 pg/mL) were significantly lower than in healthy controls (28.51, 20.76–51.23 pg/mL). Reduced RVE1 levels could indicate that HT is linked to inflammatory resolution dysfunction. RVE1 can serve as a protective factor against increased TgAb levels.
