Serum renalase levels in adolescents with primary hypertension

Pediatric Cardiology May 16, 2018

Lemiesz M, et al. - In this prospective cohort analysis, the researchers examined serum renalase concentrations in adolescents with primary hypertension. The study involved 88 adolescents (40 girls; 48 boys) aged 11–18 years, divided into two groups: HT(hypertension)—38 subjects with primary hypertension; and R (reference group)—50 subjects with normal blood pressure. Results of this study suggested that serum renalase could be associated with elevated blood pressure, however, special attention should be drawn to the association between renalase and serum uric acid levels not only in hypertensive but also in normotensive teenagers.
