Serum miRNA-371b-5p and miRNA-5100 act as biomarkers for systemic lupus erythematosus
Clinical Immunology Oct 11, 2018
Zeng L, et al. - Authours gauged the serum miRNAs expression profiles in the serum of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and healthy controls and sought to identify the potential serum biomarkers for SLE. Based on the miRNAs expression array, they screened and identified the differentially expressed miRNAs such as miR-371b-5p, miR-5100, miR-146a-5p among active SLE, inactive SLE and healthy controls. They noted a significant increase in the expression of miR-371b-5p and miR-5100 in the serum of SLE vs healthy controls and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and higher values of it were noted in active SLE compared to inactive SLE. Findings suggested the probability of miR-371b-5p and miR-5100 to act as serum biomarkers for SLE.
