Serum lipids and risk of atherosclerosis in xanthelasma palpebrarum: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Sep 13, 2019
Chang HC, et al. - Researchers explored the connection of serum lipid profiles and risk of atherosclerotic diseases with xanthelasma palpebrarum (XP) through this systematic review and meta-analysis. For quantitative analyses, 15 case-control studies with 854 patients with XP were involved. According to findings, XP patients had significantly higher serum levels of atherogenic LDLs, and the risk of atherosclerosis was significantly higher than controls. For these patients, careful monitoring and targeted intervention are essential for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
