Serum interleukin-6 level in children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Journal of Child Neurology Jan 07, 2019
Darwish AH, et al. - Researchers conducted this case-control study to measure the level at which serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) could predict the immunologic status in children with ADHD and assessed its association with symptom severity. Analysis of 60 ADHD children who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition criteria for ADHD and 60 control children was performed. ADHD patients displayed significantly higher serum IL-6 values than healthy control children. This suggests a possible role of increased production of IL-6 in the pathogenesis of ADHD.
