Serum folate and all-cause mortality is of non-linear relationship among population with chronic kidney disease: A retrospective cohort study
International Journal of General Medicine Jun 23, 2021
Yan LJ, Zhang FR, Zeng YR, et al. - Among patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD), it was investigated whether and how folate was related to their health outcomes. Researchers retrospectively assessed links between serum folate and risk of all-cause death among 2,142 CKD patients selected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999– 2006. They found that all-cause mortality of CKD patients may be impacted in a non-linear pattern by serum folate levels. It is apt to advise periodic surveillance in the CKD population in order to ensure that serum folate levels are maintained at an appropriate level.
