Serum elafin as a potential inflammatory marker in psoriasis
International Journal of Dermatology Feb 08, 2019
Elgharib I, et al. - Researchers analyzed the data to examine the significance of serum elafin in psoriasis and also to correlate its levels with severity of psoriasis and other markers of inflammation. They estimated the severity of psoriasis by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index score. They found a statistically significant association between elafin levels and both psoriasis severity and inflammation markers as C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). They concluded elafin, a reflector for psoriasis severity and inflammatory state as it displayed a highly statistically significant variation between cases and controls.
