Serum elafin as a potential inflammatory marker in psoriasis
International Journal of Dermatology Sep 14, 2018
Elgharib I, et al. - Authors compare elafin levels in the serum of psoriasis cases and controls, and correlated these levels with psoriasis severity and other markers of inflammation. They included 26 psoriatic cases along with 26 healthy controls in this case-control study. Psoriasis severity and inflammatory state were reflected by elafin levels. Between cases and controls, elafin levels show a highly statistically significant difference. Elafin levels were statistically significantly associated with both psoriasis severity and inflammation markers C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
