Serum copper level and polycystic ovarian syndrome: A meta-analysis
Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation Jun 17, 2021
Jiang Q, Zhang F, Han L, et al. - In this meta-analysis, researchers sought to examine serum copper concentrations in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) patients compared with healthy controls. Up to June 30, 2020, no restrictions were placed on electronic searches in PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. There were nine studies that measured plasma copper levels in 1,168 PCOS patients and 1,106 controls. According to the findings, circulating copper levels in PCOS patients were significantly higher than in normal controls. Large-scale research is still needed to establish a clear link between copper status and the etiology of PCOS.
