Serum chemerin as a novel prognostic indicator in chronic heart failure
Journal of the American Heart Association Jul 30, 2019
Zhou X, et al. - In this prospective cohort study, researchers used multivariate Cox regression analysis to assess the prognostic significance of serum chemerin in patients with chronic heart failure (n=834). After adjustment for traditional risk factors, chemerin was identified as an important predictor of major adverse cardiac events in Cox regression analysis. The addition of chemerin to the reference model led to marked improvements in net reclassification and integrated discrimination improvements for major adverse cardiac events. Also, all-cause mortality was independently predicted by chemerin following multivariable adjustment. Overall, chemerin was suggested to be a new serum marker for predicting major adverse cardiac events in patients with chronic heart failure.
