Serum cardiac troponin T levels in asymptomatic elderly nursing home residents
American Journal of Medicine Jan 10, 2018
Orlev A, et al. - Researchers ascertained if elevated high sensitive cardiac troponin (hs-cTnT) levels illustrated a prognostic value in stable elderly candidates without any acute illness. In elderly patients, mild elevations of hs-cTnT levels were frequently reported. The hs-cTnT level was discovered to be an independent marker of mortality risk in this cohort. Findings revealed that a different Hs-cTnT cutoff was needed (e.g. higher than the 0.014 ng/ml) for patients older than 70 years.
