Serum C1q/TNF-related protein 9 is not related to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
Cytokine May 04, 2018
Zhang C, et al. - In this cross-sectional study, researchers inquired about a possible clinically relevant link between circulating C1q/TNF-related protein 9 (CTRP9) levels and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In addition to NAFLD adults, sex- and age-matched non-NAFLD controls were also examined. NAFLD adults exhibited serum CTRP9 level which seemed to be higher, no significant difference was seen among the ultrasonographic degrees of NAFLD. No significant odds ratio difference was observed for NAFLD among the CTRP9 tertiles after adjustment for body mass index (BMI) in the multinomial logistic regression model. Overall, no independent association of serum CTRP9 with NAFLD was demonstrated. The link between serum CTRP9 and NAFLD might be due to the influence of obesity.
