Serum-based soluble markers differentiate psoriatic arthritis from osteoarthritis
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases May 20, 2019
Chandran V, et al. - For the demonstration of soluble biomarkers that distinguish psoriatic arthritis (PsA) from osteoarthritis (OA), investigators conducted a cohort involving 201 patients with OA, 77 patients with PsA and 76 controls. Markers of cartilage metabolism (cartilage oligomeric matrix protein, hyaluronan), metabolic syndrome (adiponectin, adipsin, resistin, hepatocyte growth factor, insulin, leptin) and inflammation (C-reactive protein, interleukin-1β, IL-6, IL-8, tumor necrosis factor alpha, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, nerve growth factor were analyzed for both the conditions. Differentiation of PsA from OA was possible from these biomarkers. Further researches in this field are required.
