Serum Angiopoietin-2 predicts mortality and kidney outcomes in decompensated cirrhosis

Hepatology Aug 29, 2018

Allegretti AS, et al. - Researchers assessed Angiopoietin-2 to predict clinical outcomes considering the prominence of vascular destabilization in decompensated cirrhosis. For this investigation, serum Angiopoietin-2 was measured serially in a prospective cohort of hospitalized subjects with decompensated cirrhosis and acute kidney injury. They examined clinical characteristics and outcomes over a 90-day period and analyzed according to Angiopoietin-2 levels. In a cohort of decompensated cirrhotic patients with acute kidney injury, Angiopoietin-2 was related to mortality and other clinically relevant outcomes.
