Serum adenosine deaminase levels and human papillomavirus as prognostic and predictive factors for laryngeal and pharyngeal carcinomas
Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery May 03, 2018
Chandrakiran C, et al. - Experts conducted a prospective cohort study to predict and prognosticate the head and neck cancer. In these patients, the pre and post-treatment values of serum adenosine deaminase (ADA) were estimated and the tumour was assessed for human papillomavirus (HPV) status. In cases of carcinoma of the oropharynx, hypopharynx and larynx, serum ADA level could be used as a parameter to evaluate the severity of the disease and the response to treatment. Findings suggested limitation of HPV status of the disease in prediction and prognosis of the disease.
