Serial surgical debridement of common pressure injuries in the nursing home setting: Outcomes and findings
Wounds Sep 16, 2017
Anvar B, et al. - This study examined the efficacy of serial surgical debridement of common pressure injuries in the nursing home setting. Authors observed excellent results with traditional bedside debridement regarding reduction in the square surface area for a majority of wounds. Whether used alone or as an adjunct to any treatment plan, the use of surgical sharp equipment provided a help in achieving good wound healing and advancing the rate of wound closure. Despite the requirement of many components in wound healing, sharp debridement could effectively remove devitalized tissue and was a proven significant component to advancing wound closure.
