Sequencing of therapy in women with stage III endometrial carcinoma receiving adjuvant combination chemotherapy and radiation
Gynecologic Oncology Aug 14, 2019
Latham AH, Chen L, Hou JY, et al. - Using the National Cancer Database, researchers focused on survival in women with stage IIIC endometrial carcinoma in relation to the sequence of chemotherapy (CT) and external beam radiation therapy (RT) used for treating these patients. From 2004 to 2015, women who received adjuvant CT and RT to treat stage IIIC endometrial carcinoma were analyzed. Based on the sequence of therapy ie, RT before CT, CT before RT, or concurrent therapy, stratification of the patients was done. Improved survival was observed in relation to a strategy using chemotherapy first vs concurrent therapy in women with stage IIIC endometrial carcinoma treated with combination CT and external beam RT.
