Sepsis Mortality Score for the prediction of mortality in septic patients
Journal of Critical Care Sep 11, 2017
Shukeri WFWM, et al. - This study entails the derivation of a prediction equation for 30-day mortality in sepsis using a multi-marker approach and its comparison with the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score. Researchers successfully derived a sepsis mortality score using baseline leukocytes count, procalcitonin (PCT), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and arylesterase activity (ARE). This score performed very well and predicted 30-day mortality. Also, it provided incremental significant prognostic information over and above SOFA score.
