Separate double-layer repair vs en masse repair for delaminated rotator cuff tears: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research May 19, 2020
Chen J, et al. - Researchers compared separate double-layer repair (DR) vs en masse repair (ER) for delaminated rotator cuff tears, focusing on clinical outcomes of these interventions, via this systematic review and meta-analysis. They explored PubMed, Medline, Embase, CNKI, Google, and the Cochrane Library and identified five relevant studies, including two randomized controlled trials and three observational studies. Findings revealed beneficial impacts of both arthroscopic ER and DR interventions in the treatment of delaminated rotator cuff tear. Experts found equal effectiveness of ER and DR treatments as well as same retear rate with these interventions. Based on current evidence, the arthroscopic DR technique could not be advised as the optimal option for delaminated rotator cuff tears.
