Sensory over-responsiveness among healthy subjects is associated with a pro-nociceptive state
Pain Practice Aug 24, 2017
Weissman–Fogel I, et al. – This research strived at investigating specifically the pain inhibitory system of subjects with sensory over–responsiveness (SOR) who were otherwise healthy, not studied as of yet. The authors concluded that SOR was correlated with a pro–nociceptive state, expressed by amplification of experimental pain, yet with sufficient inhibitory processes. The outcomes supported previous findings of enhanced facilitation of pain transmitting pathways, but reveal preserved inhibitory mechanisms, though slower to react.
